VIA® Release Notes 2021.2 Release

This documentation provides information on all of the changes, new features, and improvements that are available in the 2021.2 release and is subject to change and updates through November 6 when the release reaches GA.

Platform Feature Enhancements

VIA® Portal

• NEW Webforms feature that allows not authenticated users to feed information to a VIA instance (through Custom Fields and on-demand Customizable Forms). Companies may include their own logo and personalized message when requiring additional information from other parties.

• Re-engineering of the Rates system: Added Percentage of Linehaul Charge to list of Accessorial rates. Added ability to associate Accessorial rates to all carriers at once. Added Reference to Rate applied to Load or Quote (allowing user to open the corresponding Lane card). Added support to calculate Rates based exclusively on Origin or Destination, and ability to calculate rates based on States (and not necessarily based on a complete address) . Added support to calculate Rates based on the Origin and/or Destination State.

• A whole NEW set of customizable Attributes has been added to Drivers, Trucks, Locations and Trailers. These attributes are automatically applied and enforced when the Resource is assigned to a load. Attributes can have an Expiration Date (optional).

• Added Ability to customize the Row Title for the Drivers Timeline View. A new section in the Drivers’ Board Admin screen allows the customization of the fields presented in the drivers’ mini-cards.

• Added support to show Labels on mini cards when in the Driver’s Timeline view. This adds an extra-layer of visibility for Loads and Drivers’ assignments.

• Segments Builder functionalities were expanded with multiple options added for trips planning. A new Segment Editor allows VIA users to add Orders to existing segments on the fly as well as Reset a segment plan at any moment.

• NEW design of the VIA UI will prompt users to preset Stop values prior to the actual creation of the stop (with ability to discard changes).

Workspaces

• NEW Custom Headers feature for Grid widgets

• NEW Report-type Widget

• Added Drag and Drop functionality to the Segment Builder feature in Workspaces. Allows VIA users to expand use of custom Grids for day-to-day tasks.

• Multi-selection feature added to Grid widgets

• Added Quick Search feature to Grid Widgets

• Orders associated with Segments can be shown in Grid Widgets allowing users to easily locate and access both the orders and the segments’ cards.

• Added use of Custom Fields within the different Widget types in Workspaces.

• Added ability to Show or Hide the Graph’s Legend on a Chart Widget

Custom Fields

• Validation feature (using Regular Expressions) added to Custom Fields definition.

• Added feature to associate groups of Custom Field to specific boards (so, different boards of the same type can exhibit different groups of customized fields).

• A NEW Feature allows Date-Time values to be stored as they are input, without being converted to UTC. (Default is still set to UTC-Conversion for Legacy reasons).

Resources and Assets Management
Drivers, Trucks and Trailers

• A series of new fields were added to Trucks and Trailers Cards to expand their functionalities.

• Time Off for Drivers expanded to become a general Down Time management tool: allowing different downtime types, priorities, and configurable visualization options.

Partner Networks

• Permissions settings for tendered loads details expanded to better manage the information that the partner network can access.

Ease Of Use

• Global Save option for cards. Besides localized Save options, there’s a new Master Save button at the top of any card.

• NEW Search feature for users-defined Filters

• Added Quick search option to locate Member Users in a Board

• Improved Mobile Driver user to VIA card Linking Process

• Added ‘Edit’ and ‘Add Board’ buttons to Category Headers in VIA’s Home screen

• NEW Route mode View within Orders to allow users to see associated Segments and current location of

• Order on those segments

• Saved Filters are now sorted alphabetically to help locating them easily

General Features and Improvements

• Contacts Details expanded to include new fields for all Location Roles.

• New Fields Added to the Advanced Filter Feature

• Added Support to Original Shipper and Original Consignee information on Orders, Quotes and Invoices.

• Additional Filter and Search features using these entities are also now available.

• Added support to get City and State based on Canadian Postal Codes.

Ramps

• Additional information regarding completed tasks is now available in VIA’s automation processes.

• NEW Ramp Triggers for Add/Remove Reference at Freight, Stop and Card-Levels, and for Add/Remove Stops.

• The Update Stop Details trigger now includes a list of Modified Fields and the Previous State of the updated stop.

VIA® Mobile

• Added customizable Intervals enforced between Drivers Events: Arrivals, Tasks Completion and Departures.

• Added shortcut to Confirmation tasks from the Loads screen to speed-up access to Pre-trip tasks.

• The Home screen has been modified to show Advance of Loads and Stops Status (so, without opening the corresponding trip, a mobile user can see where a load is at).

Open

• New permissions for Mobile allow Drivers to create their own Tasks from the Mobile App or Portal.

• A NEW Feature allows Mobile Users to add Reference Numbers directly through the VIA App (without the need for additional setup of Tasks).

• NEW (Configurable) Visual and Audio Notifications to let Mobile users know about important events, such as Load Assignments, Loads Available and New Conversation Messages.

Open

• Correction on activities performed to reflect the date/time they were performed vs. transmitted .

• NEW Scan Document feature enhances the Camera App of the Mobile Devices

VIA® Platform

API

• Added functionality to retrieve Attributes for Trailers, Trucks, Drivers and Carriers.

• Added functionality to the Quote API requests to set City and State based on Zip code, if not provided for Origin and/or Destination.

Platform Fixes / Defects Resolved

• Fixed issue that prevented company information from being completely retrieved and added to stops details when looking for a known location.

• Fixed issue that would override a manually keyed in city/state with blanks when zip-code lookup failed .

• Fixed issue that prevented date-time fields in Event cards to be properly presented in Graph Widgets.

• Fixed issue that prevented Workspaces’ access setting to be changed from Public to Private and vice versa.

• Fixed issue that prevented any resource card (drivers, trucks, trailers and locations) to be added to a ‘none’ type card.

• Fixed issue that prevented copying a Load more than once.

• Fixed issue that preset Equipment values in Quotes and Segments.

• Fixed issue that prevented certain mini-cards to be shown when the corresponding card information was incomplete .

• Fixed issue where certain Date-Time fields were shown as simple text boxes, without a proper date-time picker control .

• Fixed issue that prevented labels to be reloaded after changing to a different Board .

• Fixed issue that prevented the List name to be reloaded after moving a card using the Card Actions Menu.

• Fixed issue on Chart Widgets that showed User Id instead of User’s Full Name.
