VIA® Release Notes October 2018

Changes and features made available in the October 2018 release of the VIA Platform (check https://status.viaboards.com for more information).

Platform Feature Enhancements

VIA® Portal

• Ramp System 
  • Added support to automatically assign carriers based on lowest rate in addition to carrier preference. (VIA-593)
  • Added new "Mobile Login" and "Mobile Logout" events to allow for business rules to fire when a driver accesses a load using the mobile or web applications (VIA-711)
  • Add action to allow automatic enabling of Tracking using VIA® Mobile or using VIA® Locate systems (VIA-712)
  • Added new actions to allow for firing of events when costs or rates change (VIA-682)
  • Added integration support for Freight Verify
  • New Carrier Assignment feature allows automatic assignment based on best rate. (VIA-573)
  • Added auditing of ramp changes - track date time of last change and user that made that change (VIA-719)
• Shadow List - Redesigned shadow list interface to make the user interaction more friendly. (VIA-640)
• Geo-fencing - New setting allows for the specification of default geo-fence radius at the board level. (VIA-671)
• GPS / Mapping
  • Proximity information on the mini-card and card detail now show "as of" date/time to reflect when the GPS position was received. (VIA-608)
  • Added resolution and zoom capabilities to control the load of the breadcrumb trail and improve the load time of large quantity of position reports (VIA-674)
  • Map display now shows title when mouse hovers over a PIN. (VIA-610)
  • Inset map will now display route, stops, and breadcrumb trail in addition to current GPS position.  (VIA-611)
  • Position data will now display even after a load has been closed (VIA-689)
  • Map display will now show geo-fence information (VIA-667)
  • Breadcrumb trail now has optional resolution setting to control the number of positions loaded at a time  (VIA-729)
  • Breadcrumb trail option is now off by default to avoid performance hit if not required (VIA-729)
• Locations - New feature allows specifying hours of operation for shipping, delivery, and general locations and stops schedule outside these hours will receive warning. (VIA-602)
• Bill of Lading - New feature to support override of Carrier/Company name on the Bill-of-Lading based on Pay-to (VIA-552)
• Order Segmentation - Order processing can now be automatically spanned across multiple segments and modes of transportation (VIA-675, VIA-449, VIA-6)
• Enabled Temperature fields in Freight Details for Segments/Orders (VIA-720)
• Activities - Added seconds to the activity screen to provide better indication of timeline (VIA-728)
• Partner Network - Added display of primary e-mail contact in Partner Network administration screens (VIA-623)
• Attachments - Added option to require entry of Attachment Type when uploading/attaching a document to a card (VIA-619)
• Date Entry - New System

VIA® Mobile

• Authentication - Additional authentication mechanism allows optional entry of MC number for validation of credentials.

VIA® API

• Public API - New publicly available API allows you to create API tokens in the Administration interface for external integration usage
• Administration - API Token creation and assignment process

Platform Fixes / Defects Resolved

 VIA® Portal

• Fixed Reference Number and Freight Pagination where first page would improperly be re-displayed on paging. (VIA-666)
• Resolved issue where Shadow Lists allowed for route feature to be enabled.   This is not supported on Shadow Lists. (VIA-593)
• Resolved defect where Auto-Add Locations feature could be enabled without specifying a location board. (VIA-599)
• Resolved issue where Board Maintenance (Admin) did not show board type icon / indicator. (VIA-622)
• Resolved bug in API where sort changes invalid activity to be created. (VIA-659)
• Fixed mobile tracking to reduce unnecessary DB queries. (VIA-658)
• Fixed issue where density calculation causes multiple queries. (VIA-657)
• Resolved bug in API where it was doing multiple user look up. (VIA-656)
• Optimized find/sort queries to improve performance. (VIA-654)
• Resolved issue where freight details cannot be opened while rates are running. (VIA-680)

• Fixed issue where dragging of board display with touch screen or mouse point was not working (VIA-707)
• Fixed Admin roles management where a checkbox was being displayed in each section heading with no description behind it (VIA-613)
• Fixed map display side menu to resolve issue where buttons were no longer issue after being moved to side panel (VIA-672)
• Fixed issue where edit notification (square popped on right side of the card) overlays the map display (VIA-688)
• Fixed issue where map display was not loading all card locations correctly (VIA-609)
