Custom Fields In VIA®
Custom Fields in VIA® allow users to define and use one or more fields that may not be present in a standard VIA® card. Custom Fields are defined in the administration screen and assigned to the different card types that the system supports. The following instructions will walk your through managing custom fields and assigning them to different boards within the system.
Managing Custom Fields
To add, edit or remove a custom field you will need to access the administration section of VIA®. Login to VIA® and click on the menu next to your name to display the user menu. You should see an Admin option. If you do not have this option, your user account is not setup as an administrator; contact your system administrator to make changes to your account in order to access this section of VIA®.
1- Once you have opened the administration screen click on Custom Fields on the left side of the screen:
2 - Notice that custom fields can be defined for each of the different card types that VIA offers. Select the card type for which you need to create the custom field and click on its name (notice that custom fields can also be created for Tasks, Stops and Commodities).
3- Custom Fields are grouped in “Tabs” (which are placed beside the standard VIA tabs in any given card). So, that’s the first part of the Custom Fields definition.
After selecting the card type, you will be presented with that specific card type custom fields section. Simply click on +Add Tab and provide a short but descriptive Title for the New Tab: click on the Tab title to Edit it and remember to Save it.
Click on Enabled to make the new tab visible in the cards.
4- Create the custom fields that will be presented to the user within that tab (by clicking on the +Add New Field button).
Provide the Display Name (notice that the Field Vame will be automatically populated). Save the new Field.
