Customizing a Geofence for a Location

Customizing a Geofence for a Location

If you are utilizing the geofencing functionality within VIA for the mobile application and would like to customize your geofences then the following instructions can help achieve this.

Geofences are defaulted to a system defined radius that can be found in the administrator screen of VIA. To see what you geofence radius is set to you can open Administration –> boards → and then choose your board. If you scroll down the list of settings you will see some mobile settings:

The default radius field will display what the radius is defaulted to. For more information on setting up geofencing click here.

You can see a visual representation of the geofence for any location either from within a location board by looking at a location card in map view; or by viewing a segment or order using map view.

On the right side of the screen in the slide out menu, there is a side menu option for map view where you can toggle turning the geofence on or off.

To change the geofence, click on the edit geofence button on the top left side of the screen beside the card image. You can then plot the points around your location to customize the geofence into any form you need. The geofence will start appearing once you have plotted 3 points on the map. This is useful if you don’t want the geofence to cross specific streets, or if you have two locations within close proximity and you want the geofences to be kept separate.

When you are editing the geofence you will have the option to clear the changes you have made in the event that you have made a mistake.
