Copying Lane Cards

VIA offers users the ability to copy lane cards and adjust the rates stored within the cards during the copy procedure. For example, if you would like to take this years rates and increate them by 10%, using the copy feature, you can achieve these results. This section of the help screen will walk your through this process.

What can you copy and adjust with lane cards:

  • Linehaul Rates

  • Accessorial Rates

  • Matrix Rating

  • Expiry Dates

Let’s look at the steps to adjust a lane card within the system.

To begin, find the lane card that you are looking to copy, open the card and click on the Card Action menu, (represented by three horizontal lines) on the top right side of the card:

In the first field, enter in a name for the new card that will be created as a result of the copy.

Enter in the new expiry date for your copy. By default, the new card name and the Expire Date will automatically fill in with the data from the existing card.

Adjustment Factor: There are three different section contained within the Adjustment Factor Section:

  1. Linehaul

  2. Accessorial

  3. Matrix

If your lane card contains flat rate linehaul charges or per unit linehaul rates, then the first linehaul option will effect these two types of rates. Accessorial charges other than matrix type accessorial rates can be updated with the section adjustment field. All matrix type rates will be effected if you choose the third option.

You have three options when it comes to adjusting the rates:

  1. Dollar Update: image-20240812-183249.png If you choose the $ icon to the right of the field then you will adjust the rate by a dollar value. For example, 5.00 $ will raise all the rates by five dollars. You can also use the minus symbol to reduce the value of the lane. For example, if you have a linehaul rate of 100 you could adjust by -10 $ and the new rate would be 90.

  2. Percent Adjustment image-20240812-183657.png If you click on the $ % toggle to the right of the value field you can change the adjustment from a dollar value to a percentage. This means that you can adjust by 5 percent or reduce a lane card by a specific percentage as well

  3. Zero out the rates. Just above the adjust and copy button at the bottom of the popup you will find an option to zero out rates. If you click on the zero out rates button then, when the copy gets completed then all the rates will zero out.

Once you have selected your options, click on the adjust and copy button. You will be asked to define the board and list that you want to create the new card in. Once the copy is complete you will have the option to navigate to the new card.
