How does Element fit into an EDI integration?

To use element, you would have to have VIA configured for your company as Element is called by a VIA ramp action to process your file.

Once the translation has been completed, the resulting file can be processed a numbers of ways:

  1. Moved to an FTP location

  2. Upload to an API end point

  3. Triggered to perform actions within VIA

  4. Create a file that can then be picked up by a program such as Tranzactor to then be processed into other applications or uploaded to SFTP or other locations

Section 1: Header - The section at the top of the screen may change as you navigate around the Element environment. From the home screen there are a couple buttons available on the right side of the header bar:

  • +New File button - This option will allow you to create a new blank map that can be configured for your specific purpose.

  • Import File - If you have an existing map file that you want to view or edit you can click on the Import File button to bring that map file into the element environment.

  • Element Icon - Clicking on the Element Icon on the Left side of the header will bring you back to the main home screen of Element (pictured above). It will stay on screen when you are in other areas of element. It will sometimes appear with a down arrow beside it when you have a file open to provide menu options on the file.

Section 2: Searching and Favorites - This section gives you the ability to search for specific files within Element. It is also where you can find the files that you have organized into Favorites or Folders.

  • Search - The top of this section provides you with the ability to search the files you have marked as either favorites or have grouped within folders. NOTE: if you want to search for a file within the main screen you can use the global search on the top right side of the screen. Below the search field there is a button that will bring back all the files instead of what you are searching for.

  • Favorites Files - You can favorite a file by either clicking off the start on the left of the file name, or by right clicking on your file and choosing Favorite from the pop up menu. Once you have your file favorited, it will appear under the Favorited Files section on the left side of the screen. You can un-favorite by either clicking the filled in start on the left of the file name or by right clicking and choosing UnFavorite

  • Folders - If you would like to group your files into organized folders, you can use the folders feature in Element. For example, if you are responsible for mapping files for multiple customers, you may find it advantageous to group all the files related to a specific customer in a folder named for the customer. You can add files to a folder by right clicking on the file and choosing Change Folder > you can then add the file to an existing folder, or choose the create a new folder
