This will guide you on how to create each type of list in VIA; static lists and the more dynamic 'shadow' lists.

Step-by-Step Guide to Create a Static List

  1. Go to a Board that you would like to add your new list to.
  2. If you are working on a brand new board there will not be any existing lists, and you should see this on the left side of the screen:

  3. The rectangle with the plus is the button used to create a new list. If you are working on an existing board that has lists already in it then you will need to scroll all the way to the last list on the right side to find the new list button.

  4. When you press the plus in the middle of the rectangle it will change to an x, and you will have the option to choose a regular list or a shadow list. For this example select 'List'.

  5. You will have to give you list a name and press the save button.

How to Import a Shadow List into Your Board

Shadow lists are pre-existing list that already reside on another board in the system. Creating a shadow list will bring that list from the other board and make it viewable on the board you are working on.

Step-by-Step Guide to Import a Static List

Prerequisite: There must already be an existing list on another board that you would like to display on a seperate board. For example, perhaps you have your dispatch boards setup so that there is one board per geographical location and you want to create one board for the supervisor to see the lists from all the boards together in one master board.

  1. Open the board that you want to import a shadow list into.
  2. If this is the first list that you are adding to the board you will see  the following rectangle on the left side of the screen. If the board already has lists on it then this rectangle will appear to the right of the last list on the board.
  3. Click on the + and it will change to an x with the options list and shadow represented. For this example, choose Shadow.
  4. You will be presented with a list if boards that match the same board type as your current board. For example, if you are trying to add a shadow list to an order type board then you will see a listing of all other order type boards.  If you have a large number of boards appear you can use the filter at the top of the screen to filter down to a specific board.
  5. Once you have selected your board all the lists will be displayed. Click on the list you want to import.
  6. Your new list will appear on the screen. Shadow lists, by design, will look different from regular lists on boards. Shadow lists will be a darker grey and they will show a description at the top concerning where the original list resides. In the example below, the shadow list is from the Tracking Board.
  7. You can add additional lists onto this shadow lists by clicking on the list menu icon and selecting Add shadow list menu item. you will then be presented with the same board/list selection screens.
