Labels are a tool used color coded tools attached to any type of card. Labels are used to help you find and organize your Cards in Lists and Boards.
When you label a card it will be marked with the designated color will appear at the top of the cards.
Labels will appear at the top of the cards. In the list view within the system labels will appear like this: 
They will appear in an opened card at the top of the card
If you hover over one of the colors it will expand out to tell you what the label represents:

Creating Labels
Creating labels are simple. It is important to note that labels are defined on a board by board level. You can have a red label representing one thing such as a rush order within one board. While a red label may mean hazmat certified when applied to a driver card in the drivers board. When you are on a Board page, simply go to the Sidebar and click on the labels menu item: Click on any one of the existing colored square. This will allow you to start naming as well as customize their color. If you would like to create Label with a new color, simply click the
